“Yea you do,” He grumbled.
“What makes you say that?”
“It’s obvious.”
“If it’s so obvious, tell me,” She replied, crossing her arms.
“You like me,” He spat. She let out a loud laugh in his face.
“You don’t know me that well,” She said happily.
“I don’t know you? What do you mean? I talk to you everyday! I’ve seen ever side of you!” He retorted, almost yelling.
“No, you’ve seen a lot of my sides, that’s true, but you haven’t seen what I’m like with guys.”
“I have so! You have one guy that you obsess with, then when you get bored with him you move on to another victim,” He sneered.
“Or maybe you have and you just didn’t think about it. You thought it would be different with you.” She let her words sink in, knowing that she was right. A slight guilt slipped through her veins, but only for a moment. His feelings were nothing to her anymore. She had moved on. A look of realization crossed his tanned face as he realized that he had just been another one of her ‘toys’.
His mouth opened but he was speechless. She held up one finger.
“Don’t say it, I’ve heard everything before. I’m sorry babe, but you just weren’t interesting enough. I mean, you definitely were one of the better guys, and I was kind of hoping we could still be friends, but then you started fighting with me and you know this was just the best opportunity to -”
“To hit me hard. Make me bleed. I get it, you’ve told me about all the other guys,” He said. She was surprised at the steadiness of his voice. She knew he was right though. He had been her friend for a long time and knew about all of those guys she had put on and played with. He had even met some of them before she left them behind. She glanced at the ground.
“Look, I’m sorry. I really didn’t want it to end this way with you. You’re a nice guy. And honestly, you’re the best one I’ve gotten into so far.” She looked up at him and shrugged. He tore his eyes from hers and looked at some kids running around in the parking lot.
“I guess you were right.”
“About what?” She asked.
“Guys. You. Most things. But not everything.”
“I’ve heard that before too,” She said, flicking her bangs back. He glanced back at her and saw that she was still watching him with her laughing eyes. To her, it was just a game. Great He thought. So the first girl I like has to be Macenzie, and it turns out I was just another one of her stupid phases.
What was so irrestistible about this blue-eyed girl anyway?
It's not like she was gorgeous, or even that amazingly talented.
Maybe it was because she always said what you wanted to hear, even if it wasn't true. He swore.
"What?" She asked.
"Don't ask that," He growled and walked away. He glanced back once at her and saw the sun gently breathing on her soft shoulders. He knew he shouldn't have looked back because he felt that familiar warmth in his gut, a craving for her touch.
