Be
Still
and listen to the calm
around you
filling in the breeze
taking up the air you breathe in
drinking in
the sounds to make the crystal clear
silence
echoeing off the glassy lake
into the ebony sky.

--old // four

I found this on my computer... another olderone I wrote awhile ago.... like last year lol
I'm too lazy to write anything new though, so yea....

//: It was dawn of the fourth day of the first month. Black silhouettes crossed the red sky in still silence. The whole city of Emendure watched as the Four slipped past the gate and onto the sandy desert dunes. The hooves of their giki sent sand twirling into the air. A few of the people watching waved a solemn goodbye before returning to their hut to leave them to their fate. Nobody expected them to return. The journey was doomed from the start, even the Four knew. Their fear wafted through the air and passed between them like a lingering spirit. Their hesitant progress was slow - even the generally lively giki did not wish to proceed. If this was only the beginning, then how would it be when their situation became truly difficult?
None of them had ever traveled outside of the desert before. They had never seen anyone from the outside world, except for the goblins, and of course, the dragon. It ripped trough their dwellings like a wild tornado, destroying everything, killing those in its way. The Twelve of the council realized that if it returned, it could likely destroy all of them, so they decided that it had to be killed. They chose the three strongest and most intimidating men they could get, and also the most athletic woman in the city.
Madai stood tall at four foot eight, Keturah was the woman and was only an inch shorter than Madai. Asaman was the same height as Keturah, and was pure muscle, and Raehan was almost identical to Asaman. None of them wanted to go, but each finally agreed when bribed. The council did not intend on killing them, but threats were considered necessary in the current operation to those who would not accept their inducement. So they were given the giki and their supplies and sent off the very next day.
The vastness of the desert would most likely be their tomb - the council had said it themselves. Each of the Four knew that with every slow step they were moving farther away from the safety of their city, and deeper into desert goblin territory. The dunes were covered in the malicious creatures. They usually kept their distance from the city, but if anyone dared stray away from home, they never returned. The geseki could sense the presence of them from quite a distance - their stench would fill their sensitive nostrils and make them dizzy. The Four all prayed fervently to any god that they knew of that this would not happen to them, for the giki were their only advantage.

just yea....

She pressed the phone gently against her ear.

"Do you want to meet at the park or go for a drive or something?" She asked, sympathy softening her words.
"Yea," The male voice paused, sounding slightly uncertain. "I'll meet you at the park in five." She heard the phone click and dropped it on her bed. She slipped a sweater over her pyjamas and slipped on flipflops before pulling open her window and slippnig the screen out. Placing it carefully against the wall she lifted herself up onto the roof. The cool midnight air licked her bare cheeks. She pulled a single brown ringlet behind her ear as she slipped from the roof to the roof of her dad's truck, then to its bed, and finally to the ground. She snuck silently to the side of her house where a blue neon sat.

In a few minutes she was parked by a small park. She got out and walked slowly to a platform where she was mostly visible. She watched a boy with dark skin and green eyes approach the park. Her dropped the bike on the grass, shoved his hands into his jean pockets, then sauntered over to where she was sitting. He stood for a moment, then she patted a spot beside her and he sat. They didn't say anything for a moment. They just watched the silhouettes and shadows float around them and the stars glow above them.

Finally he spoke, glancing at her blue eyes for a moment.
"It sucks," He whispered. She returned the glance, but he had already looked away.
"I bet," was all she said. Although overflowing with compassion, she could never find the words to say to express this emotion. There was a long silence after that. They watched a cat pass from the slide to the swings, then around and under a bench.
"You know what I hate most about it?" He hissed. She shook her head. "Everyone ditched me. As soon as anything happened, they all left!" His anger echoed between them, an invisible ball bouncing around the platform, smashing and breaking everything in its path. She looked down.
"They just didn't know what to do... I didn't know what to do either," She admitted.
"Yea, but you didn't just sit and watch me crash and burn. At least you stayed so I had - have someone to yell at." There was another pause.
"I don't think they meant to. It's just - you know... what would you do if it happened to one of your friends?" She asked. He thought about it for a bit before answering quietly.
"Well I wouldn't have just left them out in the cold." She bit her lip at his remark. It was true... She didn't understand how his friends had just left him alone to deal with it when he clearly wanted to talk to someone.
"But I guess that's just cuz they're guys, hey? That's why you stayed. You're a chick. You talk about stuff and all that gay stuff," He said. She let out a half hearted, short lived chuckle. "Well you do!" He protested.
"Well you don't seem to have much trouble talking either," She pointed out.
"And that's why you called me a chick."
"Hey no way I called you a chick cuz you called me a man!" She cried and they both started laughing.
"But its not the first time you've been called a man," He reminded her.
"No, not really. But most of the time they were kidding."
"I wasn't."
"I know. And I wasn't kidding when I called you a chick."
"I know." There was another silence.
"Thanks," He said.
"For what?"
"Coming. Answering my call. Not backing out. You know. Just being my friend," He whispered. She smiled.
"I was just repaying the favor," She answered. She looked over at him and saw that he was looking at her too.
"You know what's the best about you?" He asked. Sort of shocked at this question she just shook her head.
"You are the only girl I know who I've been friends with for so long that hasn't had a crush on me and hasn't, you know, gone all crazy pms-tic when I didn't like her back."
"Well, we decided pretty early on that our relationship would go Brittney Spears if we tried it," She said. They both smiled at the momory of that conversation. They didn't say anything for awhile, and before she knew it he was asleep on her shoulder, but the thought barely passed through her mind before she too gave into fatigue.

When I think of an African church,
I think of yelling voices and screaming praises.
I think of joyful dancing
And bright smiles;
Miracles are common
And even the angels join in their chorus.
I think of pride put aside
And God put first

Then I think of 'the church' in Canada:
Reserved people standing in rows,
listening quietly then going home.
They keep it quiet and avoid being
'e x t r e m e'
They have faith -
They believe in God and His son,
but their faith is a withered branch,
too fragile to grow or bloom.

My exicitement is hushed
and I sit silently in disappointment
I watch the sick get sicker and say
"I t ' s G o d ' s w i l l "
not a lack of faith.
I wish I had the answer as I nod politely
While others rejoice in their Savior
and trust Him
with whatever miracles they ask,
the conservative christians turn up their nose,
Too afraid to let go
open up

a summer friendship between a boy and girl
began
and grew
the winter came and it faltered
but with the spring new opporunities came
and it slowly built itself
their friendship remained
while she had her own summer love
the love sparked for a moment
then failed
and broke her down
but though her relationship did her harm
their friendship remained
she held on to it tight
it gave her what she needed to forget

soon she became more and more dependent
on that boy she met
and she found she needed him
her fear of losing her independance was shoved away
and she let her silent crush grow
until she wasn't sure she could stand it's unspoken strength
but she couldn't tell him
so she let their friendship remain
and never said a word
hoping that one day he would feel the same
knowing that he probably wouldn't
and most likely
couldn't

faceless ones

Her cradle was a web of lies
Her wishes dreamed themselves away
Her faith in life hid in the grave
Her thoughts they did undo

She never saw the faceless ones
Their silhouettes were all
A glimpse at them sent shivers through
And to the ground she would fall

Their voices echoes round her head
They floated through the doorways
They cut her so she bled her fill
They taunted with their words

They're calls were meant to kill her slow
She'd scream and shoutbut through her doubt
the calls did not ammend

But when it fades
She's left to sayI know its just a dream
She says not a word
Unable to be heard
and lets her spirit fade

The King ☼

He was the king of the hill. With his chest puffed out and his fists on his hips he stood, feet spread apart and face looking down at everyone below. He didn't scowl at the pitiful beings below him, but rather laughed at them, letting some come close enough to touch him, but leaving most low enough to taste the dirt. With grit in their teeth they watche dthe sun shine behind him, jealous and wishing they could be more like him. Girls lusted after him, wishing for just a touch of him perfect lips on their muddy cheeks. Boys either glared at him, envying his position and planning how to take him down, or they tried to get his attention and maybe be pulled up beside him. There was only one person at his height, another boy. He also held himself up, but his laughter was mocking the others, laughing at their failures as they slid away.As they looked down on everyone, the 'king' noticed a few lose their grips and slip to the bottom. Some would come close enough to thoutch his feet then they would lose a foothold and slide away. He watched this happen several more times, a strange expression crossing his face. As someone slipped beisde him he reached down quickly and grabbed their wrist. He did not pull them up to his side, but he let them get a hold back where they were. Beside him, the other boy saw the 'king' doing this, and followed him example. Soon, people were no longer falling, and few had to climb, sitting comfortably where the 'king' had left them. A girl glanced around her, now the only one on the ground. Her hopeful glance upward was rewarded with a glance from him, and she decided not to give up just yet, but to try once more. Maybe he wouldn't watch her fall and laugh like he had done so many times before.

Glyssen.....

Glyssen's green skin was slick with what appeared to be water. It was actually a gel secreted by her sweat glands to protect her skin from the dry air. Her red eyes were covered by a transparent film, some would call it a second eyelid. Her long brown hair fell in knotted clumps down her back, almost resembling seaweed. She was sixty seasons old, fifteen human years, and she knew she would Be dying within the next year, as did all of her kind. She hid in an alleyway watching humans walk by, their strange ears protruding where she had none. She tightened her slippery fingertips around her hood that covered her face and protected her from curious human glances. She did not dislike humans - in fact, she had fallen in love with a human in the past - but she did not wish to ever Join them permanently above the water, as some of her family had done. They had bleached their skin, it was extremely painful, and used magic to color their eyes and had easily fit it as long as they kept their hair long enough to cover their ears. She could never do that... She loved the water too much. Her seaweed home was not much, but it was away from the loudness of the city.

Lying

The voices echoed around her, humming in her ears. She tried to drown out the moaning whisper of words and stared intently into his crystal blue eyes. The slow motion movie that played out before her, it's images clouded and unfocused, left her weak and shaking. A hot tear dripped down her cheek. His lips moved in rhythm with the droning tune of murmurs and hushes from surrounding voices, but his was undistiguishable from the others. She blinked away her blurry tears and looked away from the black and white scene around her. Her eyes to the ground and her back to him she bit her lip. She felt a warmth on her hand but brushed it away, not seeking or accepting the comfort of his fingertips. Her mouth opened hesitiantly but she closed it without a sound, the quiet of her emotions overwhelming her. She felt him place his palms on her arms from behind her. A whisper in her ear sang a song of lies, his melodical voice seeping into her heart. She held up her shaking hands and attempted speech through quivering lips, but the try was in vain. Stranger's eyes stared at her tear stained face, their judgemental glares making her more humiliated than she already was. Slowly, as if in a trance, she took his warm hands in hers. Her heart thudded quietly, the life draining out of it. She felt the color draining from her face as she shook her head and turned away. Her first footsteps away from him were heavy and dizziness nearly overtook her. She told herself it was better this way, but at one last look into his pleading eyes she knew she was lying.

--lame.....

The color slipped from her cheeks, the heavy rain and her tears mixing on her pallid cheeks. She raised her frail, quivering hand slowly. The wind threatened to blow her abnormally thin frame into the surrounding sea. A small gem glowed patheticly, reflecting the dim moonlight. Her quiet eyes searched the islands around her, a silent prayer escaping her feeble lips, a tired wish that someone would take note of her signal. If none of her companions on the close islands saw her gem it meant they had drowned when the ocean flooded the hills. Her bony fingers twitched around the stone as it's glow grew a fraction. Lightning struck the shore meters away from her, the sand turning to a glassy solid. Her eys widened and her heart raced. This strands of black hair flew around her face, covering her searching eyes. She brushed it back and see I'm already bored.... ah I can't write. Apparently.

Found this on the school's computer.... I didn't write it but I thought it was good

The great towering tree stands firm in he ground. Its branches stretched far out from its core. I know that I will remember exactly how it stands before me. The sun is an odd grey color, like it had once been vibrant but now it stands still in the sky, with no purpose or meaning. The breeze on my face is dead. I am cold yet it’s like I had never felt cold. It comes at me now with such strong force. For a second I am afraid… I sit still, under the tree, not moving not breathing. Not wanting to disturb my peaceful yet, eerie surroundings. It was like the land was dead. Beautiful, but dead. No life, no sound no color. No love or happiness. And all at once I knew I would die here...And now I am running. Running to where I do not know but getting away from that tree. That cold, haunting tree….Though I am far from it, the smell of death still lingers on me. Foreign objects and wildlife fly by as I run. Odd, I am not getting tired. Suddenly I stop. For the first time I see color. A small bird with its mouth open and its head tilted it looks as if it is trying to sing. But not a sound comes from that golden beak. I blink and it is gone. And on the wind its ashes are carried away. And that smell… that awful stench of death comes over me once again and I am running. This will not end. Forever I will run; to nothing and for nothing. . This mysterious, ghost-like, unnatural land makes me want to hide. But from what? It makes me want to scream but I have no voice. I want to sleep, but sleep was impossible. It resembles a field with patches of trees everywhere but the trees are twisted and deformed. They are now ugly and evil. And I see this place for what it really is. I am in death’s shadow.
