a summer friendship between a boy and girl
began
and grew
the winter came and it faltered
but with the spring new opporunities came
and it slowly built itself
their friendship remained
while she had her own summer love
the love sparked for a moment
then failed
and broke her down
but though her relationship did her harm
their friendship remained
she held on to it tight
it gave her what she needed to forget

soon she became more and more dependent
on that boy she met
and she found she needed him
her fear of losing her independance was shoved away
and she let her silent crush grow
until she wasn't sure she could stand it's unspoken strength
but she couldn't tell him
so she let their friendship remain
and never said a word
hoping that one day he would feel the same
knowing that he probably wouldn't
and most likely
couldn't
