When I think of an African church,
I think of yelling voices and screaming praises.
I think of joyful dancing
And bright smiles;
Miracles are common
And even the angels join in their chorus.
I think of pride put aside
And God put first

Then I think of 'the church' in Canada:
Reserved people standing in rows,
listening quietly then going home.
They keep it quiet and avoid being
'e x t r e m e'
They have faith -
They believe in God and His son,
but their faith is a withered branch,
too fragile to grow or bloom.

My exicitement is hushed
and I sit silently in disappointment
I watch the sick get sicker and say
"I t ' s G o d ' s w i l l "
not a lack of faith.
I wish I had the answer as I nod politely
While others rejoice in their Savior
and trust Him
with whatever miracles they ask,
the conservative christians turn up their nose,
Too afraid to let go
open up
