--old // four

I found this on my computer... another olderone I wrote awhile ago.... like last year lol
I'm too lazy to write anything new though, so yea....

//: It was dawn of the fourth day of the first month. Black silhouettes crossed the red sky in still silence. The whole city of Emendure watched as the Four slipped past the gate and onto the sandy desert dunes. The hooves of their giki sent sand twirling into the air. A few of the people watching waved a solemn goodbye before returning to their hut to leave them to their fate. Nobody expected them to return. The journey was doomed from the start, even the Four knew. Their fear wafted through the air and passed between them like a lingering spirit. Their hesitant progress was slow - even the generally lively giki did not wish to proceed. If this was only the beginning, then how would it be when their situation became truly difficult?
None of them had ever traveled outside of the desert before. They had never seen anyone from the outside world, except for the goblins, and of course, the dragon. It ripped trough their dwellings like a wild tornado, destroying everything, killing those in its way. The Twelve of the council realized that if it returned, it could likely destroy all of them, so they decided that it had to be killed. They chose the three strongest and most intimidating men they could get, and also the most athletic woman in the city.
Madai stood tall at four foot eight, Keturah was the woman and was only an inch shorter than Madai. Asaman was the same height as Keturah, and was pure muscle, and Raehan was almost identical to Asaman. None of them wanted to go, but each finally agreed when bribed. The council did not intend on killing them, but threats were considered necessary in the current operation to those who would not accept their inducement. So they were given the giki and their supplies and sent off the very next day.
The vastness of the desert would most likely be their tomb - the council had said it themselves. Each of the Four knew that with every slow step they were moving farther away from the safety of their city, and deeper into desert goblin territory. The dunes were covered in the malicious creatures. They usually kept their distance from the city, but if anyone dared stray away from home, they never returned. The geseki could sense the presence of them from quite a distance - their stench would fill their sensitive nostrils and make them dizzy. The Four all prayed fervently to any god that they knew of that this would not happen to them, for the giki were their only advantage.
